Dr. Aragón is on faculty at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, Division of Epidemiology, where he is Principal Investigator of Cal PREPARE at the Center for Infectious Diseases and Emergency Readiness. He is trained in primary care internal medicine (UC San Francisco / SF General Hospital), clinical infectious diseases (UCSF), HIV/AIDS research fellowship (UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies), and epidemiology (DrPH, UC Berkeley School of Public Health).

Dr. Aragón is Health Officer, City and County of San Francisco; and Director, Population Health & Prevention (PHP), San Francisco Department of Public Health. As Health Officer, he is the local physician authorized to exercise the police powers of the state to protect health and prevent the spread of diseases. As PHP Director, he directs services in communicable disease prevention and control, environmental and occupational health, public health laboratories, health promotion and disease and injury prevention, and emergency preparedness and response.
