About
I am a PhD candidate in the Near Eastern Studies Department at UC Berkeley. My concentration is Mesopotamian Art History.
My dissertation research focuses on the terracotta figurines of Hellenistic Babylonia. I am examining this corpus from the perspective of Ancient Near Eastern Art History, with a focus on feminist theory, materiality, and semiotics. I am also interested in Hellenistic Babylonia as a case-study of cross-cultural contact, to which I am applying interpretations based on post-colonial theory.
I am also involved in two projects researching and digitizing Hellenistic Akkadian texts, under Dr. Laurie Pearce. These projects are: HBTIN (Hellenistic Babylonia: Texts, Images, and Names) and BPS (Berkeley Prosopography Services). http://cdl.museum.upenn.edu/hbtin/
I completed my MPhil degree in World Archaeology from the University of Oxford in 2005. I completed my BA degree in Anthropology and Ancient Mythology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003.
