About
Manata Hashemi is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at UC Berkeley and a Graduate Fellow at the Center for Urban Ethnography at UC Berkeley. She uses qualitative methods to study urban poverty in developing economies.
Manata is currently editing a volume on children living in crisis situations in various regions of the world including Haiti, Kenya, and the Western Sahara. She has previously worked with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut on a situation analysis of adolescents and youth in the Middle East and North Africa.
