My Big Questions (How All of the Above Intersect):

(1.) What artistic expressions are knowingly or unknowingly obscured?
(See sample excerpts of my book under "Fulmer" at http://www.ashgate.com for examples.)

(2.) How do we say what cannot be said?
(We use rhetorical indirection. It's a strategy people use when they wish to delay their audience’s comprehension of their position on a subject, which may contradict that of the audience.)

(3.) How do we slip past obstacles to expression?
(One can use indirection with words, images, and objects to coax an audience into entertaining new thoughts.)

(4.) Who uses indirection with words, images, and objects? (Anyone! They might be sitting next to you . . .)

(5.) When do they use it? (All the time! Except when sleeping . . .)
